The Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun, corps has arrested a 35yr old syndicate, Olamide Wasiu, who specializes in snatching and dismantling motorbikes within Ondo, Osun, Oyo and Ogun states.
Parading the syndicate alongside with other six crime suspects on Monday afternoon , at the Corps headquarters,in Akure, the Corps Commander, Adetunji Adeleye said Wasiu, usually operate within the South-West region where the snatched motorbikes from owners at gunpoint, and took to its hideout where the bikes were dismantled before selling them.
Adeleye disclosed that the syndicate usually carried out their nefarious activities while the buyer always collected the dismantled bikes at Iwaraja junction on Akure/Ilesha Road in Osun State.
While the syndicate, who hails from Osogbo, Osun state, confessed to the crime saying the buyer usually came with truck from Ibadan, Oyo State to meet them at Iwaraja junction, near Ilesha, where he took delivery of the consignment and paid.
The Amotekun boss, however, said the command is on the trail of other members of the syndicate which has snatched over 100 motorbikes within the state.
He said; “We also arrested a syndicate of kidnappers, where we have the ring leader who confessed to the crime. We also have a 49yr old man, Olusegun Adegoroye, who is in possession of military wears, cap and boot along with arms they use to carry out their operation.
“Also, we have a rape suspect, when we searched his house, we found out that he has three guns and we are able to established that he use to hires these guns to criminals and we are rounding up our investigations and send them to the competent court to commence their trial.
“The crime rate has tremendously reduced in the state. The synergy among all security agencies with journalists is responsible for the success. They informed the public in time about antics and devices of criminals and this has helped the public from falling victim of the criminals.
