
The former Ondo State House Of Assembly member from Ilaje constituency 2 in the last 9th Assembly, Hon Favour Tomomewo, has joined other notable Nigerians to mourn the death of Prof Omotayo Olutoye, wife of Major Gen Olufemi Olutoye (Rtd), the Alani of Idoani , the first Professor of Yoruba language in the whole wide world.
Hon Favour Tomomewo said Mama will be greatly missed for her tremendous contributions to the development and growth of entire Yoruba race nationally and internationally.
“Mama’s immense efforts towards the development of Yoruba language and the race in general both home and abroad can’t be quantified”
” A mother per excellence who never tired of helping the needy while alive ” Tomomewo said
The Yeyeluwa of Idoani in Ose local government area of Ondo state was the 1st female Professor of Yoruba Studies and mother of renowned Surgeon and Pediatrician, Prof Olurotimi Olutoye.
Professor Olutoye, a staunch member of the Anglican communion died at the age of 87yrs
” I received with shock the news of the demise of Prof. Omotayo Olutoye, JP the Yeyeluwa of Idoani and wife of Alani of Idoani, Oba, Major-General, (Dr.) Olufemi Olutoye OFR, JP.
Though painful , we blessed God for a fulfilled life well spent.
Mama should be celebrated even in death for her courage, doggedness and perceviarance in getting to peak of her career as Professor of Yoruba Studies.
I therefore express my condolences and sympathize with the Kabiyesi, the Alani of Idoani, Oba Major-General Olutoye rtd, the children and the good people of the state over the irreparable loss of an icon.
