The economic and Financial Crimes commission has concluded plans to take over the allegations levied against the kingmakers from Idanre over #10m posed on each Contestant to the throne of Owa Of Idanre.
Information at Germane Reporter’s disposal indicated that, five out of the seven contestants were able to pay the said amount which the people of the ancient town said it is strange.
However, the petition written by concerned sons and daughters of the town has reached the anti graft agency office in Lagos and Ibadan, the Oyo state Capital.
In a document available to Germane Reporters, the said money was paid to the personal account of one of the kingmakers via Polaris Bank account
According to the defence of the kingmakers while being investigated at the state level , it was argued that ,the said amount would be for palace renovation and
to carry out traditional rites for the winner eventually.
Sources within the government circle told Germane Reporters that , the actions of the kingmakers drew the attention of EFCC through the petition filed by the Indigenes of the ancient town
Meanwhile ,the matter and the petition had earlier been submitted to the State Public Complaints, Financial Crime and Anti-Corruption Commission (SPFACC) which was said to have launched full investigation into the petition by another Concerned Indigenes of Idanre against the town’s Kingmakers.

It would be recalled that the stool became vacant following the passage of Oba Frederick Aroloye over one year ago.
The petitioners argued that the selection process, which involves payment of N10 million by aspirants, is contrary to the age-long tradition and the registered declaration of the Chieftaincy Law of Ondo State.
