Ayodeji DF Oluleye (Ògo Àkúré), Aspirant for the Federal House of Representatives, Akure North and Akure South Federal Constituency, has commended the Ondo State Government for its sustained investment in grassroots sports development, describing it as a strategic tool for youth engagement, talent discovery, and social cohesion.
Speaking after attending the grand finale of the 2025 Odatiwa U-17 Football Competition at the Akure Sports Stadium, Oluleye praised the Executive Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for initiating and supporting programmes that harness the energy of young people through sports.
According to him, the competition highlights the critical role of football and other sports in promoting discipline, unity, healthy competition, and productive engagement among youths across communities in Ondo State.
Oluleye also expressed appreciation to the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Segun Henry Omoyofunmi, for his commitment and purposeful leadership in advancing sports development and youth-focused initiatives in the state.
He congratulated the Akure North Football Team for emerging overall second in the competition, describing the performance as a strong reflection of local talent, teamwork, and dedication.
He further commended the Chairman of Akure North Local Government, Hon. Johnson Ogunbolude, and the Vice Chairman, Hon. Funmi Filani, for their visible support and commitment to grassroots sports and youth development within the local government.
Oluleye reaffirmed that sustained investment in sports remains a powerful pathway to building a healthier, more vibrant, and opportunity-driven future for youths and communities across Ondo State.
“When sports are properly harnessed, they serve as engines of inclusion, peacebuilding, and development. The Odatiwa U-17 Competition is a clear demonstration of what purposeful leadership can achieve,” he said.
