ONDO JUDICIARY STRIKE MAY EXTEND BEYOND EXPECTATION AS MEETING ENDS INCONCLUSIVELY

The strike beeing embarked upon by the Judiciary staff of ondo state may not end soon as the parties from both the government and the judiciary failed to arrive at a definate conclusion.

The meeting which was held on friday with the JUSUN executives by the government delegations did not end as expected base on offers that could not be accepted .

However, Judiciary insisted that the total autonomy must be granted and tagged it “non negotiable” among other pressing issues.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM TODAY’S MEETING WITH THE GOVT TEAM

OFFER FROM GOVT

  1. Salary scale of Magistrates/Grade A and LRO to be reviewed by a committee to be constituted and to sit within 2 weeks in March 2026
  2. 30 cars to be purchased as initial commitment
  3. Autonomy: 50% Recurrent and 15% capital.
  4. JUDICIARY POSITION
  5. Members of the coalition, i.e., Magistrates, Grade A presidents, and LRO must be members of the salary review committee.
  6. all 90 vehicles are to be purchased once.
  7. Full autonomy
  8. outstanding 20% outfit allowance to be factored for payment to make up 60% as earlier approved

Though the meeting was inconclusive, parties agreed “in principle” on the following

  1. Committee on review of salary scale and implementation during budger review or re-Ordering. Members of the coalition must be members of the review committee
  2. 50 cars to be purchased as initial commitment and others to be purchased before the end of year 2026.
  3. 20% outstanding outfit allowance to be acconmodated and subsequently made 60% as earlier approved

On autonomy, we maintained that it was non-negitiable.
Parties to meet again, but no specific date yet because we told the government team that we need to consult and revert, but our stand on autonomy remains full autonomy
