The Kwara State Police Command has dismissed a viral video claiming that the gunmen responsible for the recent attack on church worshippers in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area, have been arrested. The Command described the circulating clip as misleading and capable of causing unnecessary fear among residents.
Police spokesperson SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi said the video does not reflect the true situation and urged the public to ignore it. “No arrest has been made in connection with the unfortunate incident. The information being circulated is completely false,” she stated.
Ejire-Adeyemi explained that security agencies are still carrying out intensified operations within and around Eruku to track down the attackers and rescue the abducted victims. She appealed to residents to avoid spreading unverified content, especially materials that could heighten tension or hinder ongoing security efforts.
“We encourage the public to rely solely on official updates from the Kwara State Police Command,” she added, assuring that credible information will be released as developments unfold.
The police reaffirmed their commitment to restoring safety in the affected community and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
