The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State commends the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for his purposeful and strategic engagement with media stakeholders at the recent media interface and state dinner held at the Government House Banquet Hall, Akure.

The meeting, which brought together journalists and media executives from across the state, went beyond routine government–media interaction. It was a deliberate affirmation of the central role of the press in democratic governance and a clear demonstration of the Aiyedatiwa administration’s respect for professionalism, objectivity, and responsible journalism.

At the event, the Governor addressed longstanding institutional issues affecting the media sector, including the settlement of inherited debts owed to some electronic media organisations and the provision of a brand-new bus to ease the operational challenges of state correspondents. Requests presented by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), including matters relating to representation and career progression within the civil service, were also given favourable consideration. These actions reflect an administration that listens, responds, and acts in good faith.

Notably, Governor Aiyedatiwa made it clear that these gestures were not intended to curry favour or compromise journalistic integrity. Rather, he charged media practitioners to continue to report objectively, interrogate government policies, and hold public officials accountable—an approach that underscores his administration’s commitment to transparency and fact-based governance.

The APC also notes the widespread commendation from media leaders and stakeholders regarding the performance of the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Ebenezer Adeniyan. Speakers at the event unanimously acknowledged his professionalism, responsiveness, and effectiveness in bridging communication between government and the public, as well as his readiness to engage in public discourse across broadcast platforms.

Mr. Adeniyan’s stewardship has redefined the Office of the Chief Press Secretary in Ondo State, transforming it into a dynamic hub of credible public communication anchored on facts, clarity, and institutional loyalty. His background as a seasoned journalist and publisher continues to reflect in the quality and integrity of government communication under this administration.

The APC Ondo State Chapter reiterates that the Aiyedatiwa administration remains committed to open governance, press freedom, and professional engagement with all stakeholders. The party is confident that this constructive relationship between government and the media will further strengthen democracy and good governance in Ondo State.

Signed:

Steve Otaloro
Director of Media and Publicity
APC, Ondo State
