In a strategic move to solidify party unity and regional development, Professor Simidele Odimayo, a prominent academic and a leading aspirant, for Ondo South senatorial election, held a high-level consultative meeting with leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Okitipupa.
The meeting, which drew top party stakeholders from across the local government focused on a transformative roadmap for Ondo South, underpinned by the principles of inclusive governance and political equity.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Simidele Odimayo emphasized that the development of Ondo South depends on a collaborative approach. He highlighted his vision for the region, which includes leveraging its natural resources to drive industrialization and human capital development
” Our strength lies in our unity. For Ondo South to witness the level of development we all crave, we must ensure representation that guarantees collective welfare and infrastructural development’, Odimayo stated.
In his speech at the engagement, Prof. Odimayo stated that it is beyond conjecture that Irele/Okitipupa federal Constituency constitutes one entity. He stated that the current political reality has compelled a conscious concession for the senatorial slot in southern senatorial district remain in Okitipupa/ Irele federal constituency.
PSO, as fondly called, emphasized that considering that Okitipupa currently has an Ambassador Designate—a feat that elevates the profile of the Federal Constituency on the national and international stage. He requested Okitipupa APC leaders to support a rotation of power to Irele to engender equity, fairness and justice and social harmony. He urged the APC leaders to support his candidature.
Responding on behalf of the leaders and stakeholders, the local government party Chairman, Hon. Bode Ikulala commended Professor Odimayo, for his selfless approach to service and his commitment to the progress of the southern senatorial district and the entire Ondo State. He stated that Prof Odimayo’s victory at the poll is a win for the entire South and promised to throw their weight behind him to ensure a competent and altruistic representation. Several leaders in attendance also spoke glowingly of Prof Odimayo.
