So many things are seriously begging for attention and solution in the state that everyone is in “state of confusion and dilemma” over ,what actually is the problem, may be the government should be blamed or the masses.
Painfully , the Academic staff of all state owned Universities are on strike for over two months , mostly from Adekunle Ajasin University, it has always been back and front with no specific solution, as government claimed it has approved this , approved that for the payment but ASUU said nothing has been released to them ,thereby making life unbearable for the students in the state.
The Subvention that was widely announced by the Ondo State government , claimed to have been approved, increased and probably paid to the Academic staff of the Universities,-Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, University of Medical Sciences , Ondo and Olusegun Agagu University of Sciences, Okitipupa, has not been paid or received by the poor Lecturers according to Prof Boluwaji Osodi ,the ASUU Chairman of AAUA.
According to him , he said if the Subvention has been released to the Management of the schools , certainly, the schools would have also disbursed to their various accounts, which would have definitely enhanced their resumption.
Prof Bolu Osodi in his words on a popular radio program said, July and August salaries have not been paid to them as at September which many of them will be preparing to pay school fees of their wards in the next few days to new academic session of schools in the state.
The primary and Secondary schools will be resuming in 7 days time with a very limited number of teachers. Infact ,many schools are not having learning materials to work with like , well equipped laboratory, Conducive learning environment like good classrooms which the roofs have been blown off by the rain.
Base on all these and many more, some parents are planning going out on fun fare called RETREAT when their wards are wasting away at home over the strike action embarked upon by both Academics and non Academics staff of the Universities in the state.
What is the Joy of the parents, most especially the mothers, when the future of your Children are being played with ?
Those who put us into this problems never have their Children in the state Universities but rather in Private schools, securing them a brighter future but leaving the Children of the common people in a mess.
Even if any picknick or funfare will be done or organized in the state, under the the name “RETREAT” should not have been now that the students are all at home.
As good and responsible parents , we should all think of the lasting solution to the self Inflicted problem we place on ourselves that is now affecting our own Children.
Who is actually the problem of Ondo State at this critical time that approved money to Academic staff is not seeing, including Subvention that is not just enough to cater for the Universities.
Large number of the students are living off campus , which their rents are far more than the fees , despite that, the rent is running out , the poor parents will again be looking and running up and down to pay another one when they are all at home but some MOTHERS , who have their Sons and Daughters affected in the mess will be going for merry-making.
