Ondo Govt Bans Use Of Phones by Students Pegs fees For Primary, Secondary Schools

The Ondo state government has banned the use of phone in both private and public schools across the state by Students during school hours.

The order was given on Wednesday by the Commissioner of Education and Technology, Prof Igbekele Ajibefun while briefing Journalists at the Ministry’s conference hall. The assertion was made as a result of inability of many of them concentrating in class during lectures. It was learnt that , the students do come to school with different classes of phone which has henceforth been banned.

Ajibefun emphasized that any student caught , will not only be dealt with, but the phone will forever be forfeited.

The Commissioner also said no extra charges should be collected from any parents by principal else, such school head shall face the full wrath of the law and be sanctioned beyond expectation.

More emphasis were also made on Safe School Initiative that the committee has been set up by the governor, headed by the Education Commissioner and other security agencies.

However, On the issue of the striking Lecturers, the Commissioner mentioned that the state has four tertiary institutions and that the problem of strike will be a thing of the past as communication gap between the government and the Union really caused the delay in the actualization of the payment this far saying that the governor has held a meeting and that the strike will soon be over any moment from now.

While speaking, Idowu Ajanaku , the Information Commissioner said decision has been reached to have College Of Education at Obenla ,in Ilaje Local government area of Ondo State .

He said also that the government is planning ahead through establishment of the college and that , more teachers will soon be employed.

He therefore urged every one to study a science oriented course to help the society more and be scientifically inclined for the betterment of the society

Moreso, the State government has pegged primary school fees for this session to Eight thousand naira (#8000) while Secondary school students are to pay Twenty one Thousand ,three hundred naira ONLY(21,300) for those with school bus and Nineteen thousand,six Hundred naira for those without school bus ( #19,000 )

However , returning students with school bus will pay #18, 000 and returning students without bus is #19,000
