The Deji and Paramount Ruler of Akure Land, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, CFR, Odundun II has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of a great Titan and Hero, Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, a revered elder statesman, foremost Afenifere leader, educationist and a Pan-Nigeria who passed away at a graceful age of 100.
The passing of Baba Fasoranti marks the end of an extraordinary chapter in the history of Akure Land, Ondo State and Nigeria at large. Baba’s life was a resounding testament of an enduring values of integrity, discipline, courage, patriotism and selfless service to humanity.
Pa Fasoranti was more than an elder statesman, he was a custodian of wisdom, a champion of progressive ideals and a respected voice in the quest for justice, democratic governance and the advancement of the Yoruba people. His contributions to education, public administration and Nigeria’s democratic journey remain an enduring part of our collective history.
As an educationist, he understood the transformative power of knowledge. As a public servant, he demonstrated commitment to the development of Ondo State. As a pro-democracy advocate and leader of Afenifere, he remained steadfast in his convictions and devoted to the pursuit of a more just and equitable society.
For Akure Kingdom, among of Baba’s wishes was to see the take-off of the long-agitated take-off of the Futa Teaching Hospital, Upgrading of the 69 years old College of Agriculture, Akure to a full fledge University as well as an emergence of an Akure indigene from Akure North, Akure South and Ifedore as the Executive Governor of Ondo State.
There is no doubt that we have lost a father figure who stood tall against all odds to defend his people, the Yoruba race and the interest of the nation.
On behalf of the good people of Akure Land, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of Pa. Fasoranti, and also express our profound appreciation to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the government and people of Ondo State, the Afenifere family, and all Nigerians who mourn this irreplaceable loss with us.
Although Baba Fasoranti has departed this earthly realm, the ideals he upheld and the footprints he left behind will continue to guide future generations. A life devoted to service does not end with death; it lives on through the institutions strengthened, the lives touched and the principles defended.
May Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest and give the family, Akure Land, Ondo State and the entire Yoruba nation the fortitude to bear this monumental loss.
Signed
HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY,
OBA ALADETOYINBO OGUNLADE ALADELUSI,
ODUNDUN II, CFR, JP
DEJI AND PARAMOUNT RULER OF AKURE LAND.
