No doubt about the fact that the health sector in Ondo state is being affected seriously with the exodus of medical Doctors from the government service to other places both within and outside country owning to the insensitivity of the government in paying salaries and other entitlements of the medical personnel.

However , with the level of things in the state in the area of health sector, things may get out of hands in no distance time , if care is not put into consideration, and deployment of corps members who are not experienced in any way shouldn’t be the option .

It is believed that the medical Doctors are not well catered-for despite the risk and some hazards they face in the cause of discharging their duties in saving peoples lives

To this end, governor Rotimi Akeredolu of ondo state decided to look for a sharp way in solving the sensitive problem by resulting to pleading with the Officials of the National Youths Service Corps NYSC to redeploy more of the corps members to the state to replace the vacuum left by the experienced Doctos, which MAY potent a serious danger in the anal of things.

The appeal to redeploy Corps members to handle the health situation of ondo state people was made by governor Akeredolu while receiving the NYSC national governing board which on Wednesday who visited the state on official assignment and led by
Chairman, National Governing Board of NYSC, Ambassador Fatima Abubakar.

The governor by the commissioner for sports and youths development, Mr Bamidele Ologun, governor Akeredolu explained that the appeal was necessary as the state is facing the problem of brain drain in the health sector.

He said, “We have utmost respect for NYSC. Dear Alhaja, Ambassador, we have our little request.

“Mr governor said I should please beg you to please assist us to ensure that medical students that are corps members are sent in to our state. More. I don’t think we have. I am not sure we have.

“Mr governor said we should request that you should please send more to us in the state.

“We need them because Mr governor is doing a lot in the health sector and we need medical men and women to occupy the space.”

The Ondo State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association had in July lamented the rate at which medical doctors and other healthcare practitioners were leaving the state government service.

The association disclosed that the state was worst hit of doctors’ brain drain in the South-West owing to non-payment of their salaries and other bonuses, noting that the government was still owing medical doctors four months salary.
