In a significant move towards enhancing transportation infrastructure, the Federal Government of Nigeria has given its nod for the Design of the dualisation and renovation of the Akure-Ondo-Ore dual carriageway. The ambitious project to dualize and renovate the Akure-Ondo-Ore dual carriage is further solidified by it’s inclusion in the in the 2024 Appropriation Budget. The Federal Government has allocated a substantial budget worth millions of Naira to cover the design and implementation of this significant infrastructure upgrade.

It would be recalled that on July 19th, 2023, Hon. Festus Adefiranye MHR representing Ileoluji/Okeigbo & Odigbo Federal Constituency moved a motion on the floor of the house advocating for the Dualisation and renovation of the said road. The Chairman House Committee on Christian Pilgrimage sighted years of abandonment and neglect from previous administration and emphasised the need for urgent attention to be accorded the road.
This motion now realised through the approved budget, showcases the collaborative efforts of government Representatives to prioritize essential infrastructure development for the benefit of their People.

The Akure-Ondo-Ore dual carriageway, a key transportation route, has long been in need of upgrades to meet the growing demands of commuters and businesses. With the approval of this project, the government demonstrates its commitment to addressing infrastructure challenges and fostering sustainable development.

The dualisation of the carriageway is expected to have a positive impact on road safety, reducing accidents and travel time for motorists. Additionally, the renovation work will contribute to the aesthetic improvement of the corridor, creating a more visually appealing and functional roadway.

Local communities along the Akure-Ondo-Ore route can anticipate increased economic opportunities as improved infrastructure often attracts investments and stimulates economic growth. Furthermore, the project is likely to generate employment opportunities during the construction phase, providing a boost to the local economy.

As the Federal Government initiates this transformative project, it underscores the importance of strategic infrastructure development in advancing the nation’s overall progress. The successful completion of the dualisation and renovation of the Akure-Ondo-Ore dual carriageway is poised to make a lasting impact on the region, benefiting both residents and businesses alike.
