The Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo state continue to swell in number by the day, as thousands of members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), on Thursday ,dropped their filthy broom for the umbrella.
The decampee are from Ondo East, Akure North and Ondo West Local Governments.
The wave of defections started
In Ondo East, where Hon Charles Adeduro led hundreds of APC members back to the PDP from where he had earlier defected to the APC.
A strong and influential politician with a very large followership, Adeduro was former elected Local Govt Executive Chairman during Late Governor Agagu regime., Adeduro’s return to the PDP marked a remarkable positive change in the fortune of the party in Ondo East Local Government.
The former LG boss had served in various political positions, even as he is reputed to be a highly respected political voice in the LGA.
The wave of defections also swept through Akure North, where Ojo Olubo, who was the APC ward leader and branch chairman of the National Union Of Road Transport Workers(NURTW), in company with another APC Ward leader in the Local Goverment area, Chief Oluwadare Abiodun also decamped to the PDP with hundreds of their members.
Among the APC leaders who defected with the Ward leaders are the APC former Youth Leader,
Dada Godwin ,his non indigene coordinator counterpart,
Sunday Benaiah and APC Unit Chairman, Aliu Jimoh as well as
Jimoh Momoh , an APC Ward leader, who dropped the broom with hundreds of other members .
Hon. Korode Olakanye, former councillor in ward 11,led APC defectors in their hundreds to the PDP in Ondo West on Thursday.
He was co-led in the massive movement to the PDP, by
Tunde Otuwehinmi a.k.a Lotujama 1, also of ward 11 and Matti Adeyemi of Ward 1.
The defectors hinged their departure from the ruling Party on the harsh economic policies and failure to match the PDP superior standard of governance.
Adeduro in particular said the APC, since taking over power in the state have succeeded in rubbishing every good done by the PDP in it’s fruitful years of governance.
He said the people are tired of the party, hence the reason for the rush to the PDP by the frustrated members of the APC, to ensure power changes hand in November.
The defectors were received into the party by the PDP SWC members led by the Ag Chairman , Tola Alabere and the PDP Gubernatorial Candidate, H E Agboola Alfred Ajayi.
