The Governorship Candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the forthcoming Governorship election in Ondo State, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye, popularly called OBA has said he is aware of the task ahead, if he become the governor of the state.
Akingboye stated this today in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital while addressing world press conference.
“I’m a grassroot politician, having been in this race for close to 24 years. and I had toured the state to identify with the people with a view to knowing their needs.”
When asked what are his chances in the November 16 Governorship election, Akingboye said, “Being the only candidate from Okitipupa, which is the most populated area in the South, coupled with having picked a woman as my deputy, who is a Muslim from Akure, are some of the factors that will give me an edge over other governorship candidates,”
Gentlemen of the press, let me reiterate here that the so-called Power of incumbency will not play any significant role in this election. The election is going to be free and fair as Ondo State Indigenes are tired of both PDP and APC.
“It will shock you to know that the current governor of the state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has misappropriated over N200bn in eight months and this is worrisome to the people of the state. It is not of necessity for a sitting governor to commission roads, markets, renovation of Bus stops or minor projects in the state and this is what Aiyedatiwa is busy doing; all these projects are Local Government projects.”
Speaking further, the Governorship hopefully said, “Security will be zero tolerance in Ondo State when I become the governor of the State. What I can only say now is to appeal to the electorates to come out on the day of election to vote massively for Social Democratic Party,” he concluded.
Accompanied to the venue of the press briefing which took place at NUJ Press Center (Correspondent Chapel), Mokola, Ibadan include Mr Funsho Kareem, a veteran journalist in Nigeria, Dr Sola Agboola, Director of Campaign & Mobilization, Mr Femi Akeredolu (Late Arakunrin Akeredolu’s brother), Director Strategy for OBA Campaign organizations and Charles Akinwon, Director Media and Publicity among others.
