The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC Ondo state has said that the commission will be releasing the voters cards across the 18 local government areas of the state from Wednesday 23rd October,2024.
Speaking to journalists in the state in a forum for reporters ,producers and on air personalities ahead of the November 16th ,2024 Guber election , held in Alagbaka Akure ,the Residents Electoral Commissioner in the state, Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola said that the offices of the commission in all local governments will be opened from Wednesday 23rd to 29th October,2024 for the collection
However, the National Electoral Commissioner of the commission, Mr Sam Olumekun had earlier assured all political parties and electorates of their assurance over free fair and credible elections which shall be made opened to all for monitoring over the conduct of the election
Olumekun said further that , adequate security has been made by the commission to protect all electoral materials ,the journalists and the voters to ensure hitch – free election before , during and after election
Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola therefore, emphasized on the need for journalists to desist from fake news saying the office is opened for verification of information so as not to dish -out fake contents to the members of the public.
According to her, she emphasized that fake news could bring about unrest mostly if such information is not verified before dissemination
