The people of ondo state have been in palpable fear over the influx of kidnappers into the state from neighbouring states like Kogi, Edo and Ogun states
It was reported a week ago in some dailies, including online newspapers that four persons were kidnapped along Oke Oge , near the Airport in Akure ,the state capital while on their way from farm which huge ramssome were demanded from their families by the kidnappers.
More so, an 18-seater bus was attacked by these dare- devil armed men two weeks ago along Owo- Akoko expressway while on a journey to Akure where they were dragged into the bush but some were later rescued by the men of Amotekun corps after huge sums have been been paid by their families as Ransome.
Also, same week, a 75 – year old woman was as well kidnapped at Ifira Akoko,dragged into the bush ,beaten and later rapped by one of the kidnappers before she was rescued by Amotekun corps men.
This nefarious activities have been on in the state with little or no efforts from the state government to put the perpetrators on their toes.
In an investigative work done by GERMANE REPORTERS on why the security agencies in the state are not performing to the expectations , it was revealed that, even the Anti – kidnapping unit of the Nigerian Police Force in the state has no operational vehicle to work with.
The investigation reveal further that, all the security agencies put together have no tracking garget to monitor and track the hideouts of the kidnappers.
So far, the state government has never issued or make any comment over the issue to reduce the tension in the minds of residents.
Col. Raji Ahmed ,a retired military officer suggested that, the state government should as a matter if urgency provide all necessary equipment for the security agencies to avoid the looming epidemics of kidnapping in the state.
According to him.he said , the kidnappers do.operate in an environment where the governor is weak ,so that it will be easier for them.to Carey out their activities
The residents of the state are now living in fear as the operation of the gun men are now done freely without much disturbance from the uniform men in the state which is innimical.to.the lives and property of the innocent Nigerians.
