Cleanliness they say is next to godliness, this adage seems not working at all in Akure the state Capital, as weeds have now overgrown the dividers of major roads in the state capital, like Fiwasaye – Agbogbo road, Isinkan – Army Barracks road all in Akure, the state capital.
Ondo state which was sometimes known for it’s unique beauty, and neatness is gradually becoming the opposite of what it used to be as a result of neglect and non challant attitude of the concerned authority.
Another beautiful example is Oke – Eda Junction /Adegbemile ,that used to be synochure of all eyes with flowers mostly during festive times has turned to be a very thick forest that could harbour kidnappers and men of the Underworld in the night.
Before now, hardly will one pass through the major roads of the state Capital without having a feeling of serenity as a result of it’s neatness but the reverse seems to be the case in recent times.
All the aforementioned areas have recently turned to eyesaw due to the unkept look they wear in the heart of the state capital.
Germane Reporters spoke with some residents which they said that, if not attended to, for a very long time, it may pose a lot of danger to people plying the road as this may obrupt a clear view of on coming vehicles and a safe haven for criminals, mostly Adegbemile / Oke Eda junction hill side, which may eventually lead to accidents by drivers, riders and pedestrians
It should not be forgotten also that reptiles and rodents have found the places habitable.
According to Barr David Adeola, another concerned resident asked our reporter question while giving his view on the situation
The question is :
are some of the concerned authority not seeing this ugly look of the areas? he asked ‘
” Are we not having government again in the state ” ?
Mrs Dara Oluwaseun, another resident in Akure, said that there is need for the government to bring back the glory
” Well ,there is need to bring back our dear city of akure to what it used to be
” and we call on the ministry in charge of this and some neglected areas to do something about this immediately as they say cleanliness is next to godliness”
