The governor of Ondo state, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa is actually known to be a very gentle and easy going personality naturally but recently, the security situation in the state has given people some doubts about whom the “gentle -giant ” is.
It is no doubt that the security situation in the state began like a child’s play but later graduated to what everybody could not just imagined where farmers were being killed and slaughtered like a meat.
Appreciably, the gentle man has taken some drastic steps part of which were made known to the people and part of which were kept unannounced, the deployment of 115 military officials to the area will definitely do a lot in reducing the menace.
I want to believe within my subconscious that, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, the executive governor of the state is a man of principle and integrity that knows his onions but seems the lieutenants around him fail or failed to put before him what the people of the state are saying mostly in the area of security.
I wouldn’t want to bore you on some deadly attacks that have taken place in the state mostly on farmers by the Herdsmen and again the kidnapping of people at will recently.
The countless number of victims since the beginning of this year alone calls for prompt attention but one of the governor’s aides raised it publicly that, no killing nor kidnapping in the state until dead bodies were brought to the office of the governor for the “over-bearing” aide to see.
Kudos to the governor for this giant stride in curbing security challenges in the state most especially, from the northern part of the state.
The meeting with the elders and leaders of the area will definitely yield better results tremendously.
More importantly, the involvement of the traditional rulers is very important and a matching -order should follow that no head of a community should be involved in harbouring criminals else such head will be openly removed and charge to court.
Again, Mr governor should endeavor to sign the death warrant of any convicted criminal to serve as deterrent to others who may want to indulge in such activity.
Once again, kudos to Mr governor and the leaders of Ondo North senatorial districts of the state for the brilliant idea cooked in tackling insecurity in the state.
May the Lord continue to bless our dear sunshine state.
