Thomas Adewumi University (TAU), Oko-Irese in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, has reaffirmed its dedication to delivering quality education as it officially welcomed 780 new students into its academic community.
Speaking at the institution’s 5th matriculation ceremony held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Francisca Oladipo, said the growing number of fresh students reflects increasing confidence in the university’s vision and standards.
“Today, we formally welcome into our academic community a new cohort of 780 bright young men and women who have chosen to begin their higher education journey with us,” she said.
According to her, the rising enrolment shows that parents and guardians trust TAU as a hub of academic excellence. She urged the new students to make the most of the opportunities available to them.
“Engage wholeheartedly in your studies, take part in constructive extracurricular activities, and adhere to the rules and regulations of the University. We remain committed to providing quality education and equipping you with the knowledge, skills, and character needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world,” the Vice Chancellor said.
On his part, the Chancellor and founder of the University, Engr. Dr. Johnson Adewumi, reminded the students of the responsibilities tied to the institution’s oath of allegiance.
“Oath must be obeyed. Your parents have done you well by ensuring you live on campus. It is now left to you to be good ambassadors of your families,” he said.
Dr. Adewumi further encouraged the new students to take advantage of the university’s skill acquisition and international certification programmes.
“As a student of TAU, you are expected to engage in community service through our skill acquisition programmes and obtain at least two international certifications to secure your future and position yourself as an IT professional,” he added.
The new intakes were drawn from all seven faculties and twenty-two academic programmes offered by the university.
The matriculation ceremony was attended by officials from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) led by Mr. Habib Usman Maiyaki, parents, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders.
