As it applies to other state capitals that certain special attention and considerations are being placed to make life more comfortable and meaningful for the people of the state whenever they move to the city centre with their families and friends for a spot assessment of social services and amenities with other opportunities.
Ondo state capital, which is Akure lacks all the benefits of being a member of all state capitals in terms of good roads in major areas , Flyover bridges , good traffic control, good health facilities and host of others.
States like , Ekiti, Osun, Ogun just to mention a few in Southwest, their capitals have since overtaken and left Ondo behind in “face – lifting” their City Centres at least to boast the social economy life of it’s people
Many residents of Ondo state capital could not drive smoothly to their destinations within the city as a result of uncountable number of potholes at different locations, moving in the dark where their belongings could be forcefully snatched by hoodlums in the dark city.
Examples of such areas are : Isinkan roundabout potholes , A division potholes, first bank roundabout potholes, Oluwatuyi roundabout ( partially filled up) , Govt house potholes along Shoprite, Oke Aro at Idanre garage side and many others.
Mentioning some other roads that have been since abandoned by Ondo state government, leaving the people to it ,may be endless like : Akure – Ijare road which as we speak, has done a lot of damages to the vehicular movement of the people, Olufoam road is really calling for attention, also Igbatoro road is a dangerous zone entirely as the road gradually becoming unpassable.
The residents of Ijoka will not forget in a hurry the horrible situation they are currently facing over the abandoned road project along the area.
Also the people of Akure high school/ Onyearugbulem area are just enduring the situation with much pain created by the government over inability to attend to a fly over bridge project which is making their roads more terrible to ply almost on daily basis
However, while inaugurating the newly appointed commissioners in the state at the International Event centre,in Akure on 14th July ,2025, the governor,Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa said that, his administration will be slow in attending to issues saying such method wins the the race.
If an administration who has only four years to run has adopted the system of slow and steady ,when will it meet up with the mandate and promises he made with the people?
Like a village at night where there is no light and everywhere looks so dark ,Akure is one good example where top government officials and senior political class like the governor, Commissioners, Local government Chairmen and many more reside.
