The National Executive of the Niger Delta Youth Movement (NDYM) on Thursday inaugurated the newly elected executive members of its Ondo State Chapter, led by Comrade Busayo Julius Ebiniyi. The ceremony was held in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

Ebiniyi emerged as chairman following a transparent election conducted in Ondo State on December 6, 2025. The exercise was supervised by the NDYM National President alongside other members of the national executive.

NDYM’s core mandate includes empowering youths across the Niger Delta through skill acquisition in ICT, maritime studies, and vocational training to enhance employability, reduce crime, and promote development.

The group also champions good governance, accountability, and equitable resource distribution to address persistent regional challenges such as unemployment and marginalisation.

In his inauguration address, Ebiniyi pledged unwavering loyalty and commitment to the people of the oil-producing communities, especially the youths.

He assured that his administration would prioritise collaboration and synergy with all development partners, including the Federal and State Governments, NDDC, OSOPADEC, oil companies, and other relevant agencies.

His speech reads, “no doubt, it has been a torturous journey, but we give God Almighty the glory for granting us the courage to face challenges, achieve victory, and preserve us from untoward developments. To this end, I make bold to say that there is no victor, no vanquished,” he said.

“The inauguration marks the dawn of a new era in our history, one we believe will advance the collective good of the region.”

Ebiniyi appealed for the cooperation of the Niger Delta youths, the government at all levels, and stakeholders to drive the transformational agenda of his administration.

“With a deep sense of responsibility, I appeal to our youths, governments, and stakeholders to work with us for the transformation of the Niger Delta Region. It is no news that we face infrastructural deficits and a lack of basic social amenities. The current reality places a heavy burden on our shoulders, and we must deliver by attracting sustainable growth, socio-economic development, and political stability,” he stated.

He thanked the NDYM National President and the national executive for their steadfastness and commitment to ensuring a free and fair election in the Ondo State chapter.

Though he won the election with a landslide, nobody had a glimpse of the latter development of his ministerial nomination. The truism that man proposes but God disposes was again substantiated here.

The implication was that there was the need for a new occupant of the Akoko North Federal Constituency seat in the Federal House of Representatives And the only constitutional process is through a bye-election, expectedly to be conducted by Nigeria’s electoral umpire- the Independent National Electoral Commission.Expectedly, Hon. Bunmi Tunji Ojo, having tendered his letter of resignation and same was read on the floor of the House, the seat was declared vacant by the Speaker of the House of Representatives in a letter addressed to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Few days back, the long awaited INEC announcement filtered through the airwaves that re-run and bye-elections would be conducted nationwide by February of 2024, baring any unforeseen circumstances.

In the light of the above and as at the last count, about twenty aspirants of the APC and PDP are already showing interest to participate in the process.

This is as many sectional and self-serving agenda ladened with chauvinistic colouration are being promoted to achieve jingoistic ends – a .case of different folks and different yokes.Among the lot of these aspirants, who are eminently qualified not only to participate in the exercise but also to represent the zone, stands out a young man by name Ifeoluwa Ehindero.

For me, I had known long before now that he would be BTO: successor. You ask me: “How”? I would tell you that the Nostradamus tendency in me and my gut feelings told me so. Remember, Nostradamus ( 1503-1566) was a French apothecary and seer who predicted many things with accuracy and virtually all his predictions came to pass.

I recall how immediately Hon. Bunmi Tunji Ojo was announced Minister Designate, I sent a short message to Ifeoluwa Ehindero and this was the content: ” Hello, my brother Something good is coming your way this season. Prepare for it for it will surely come” ( Verbatim). When I sent this, I had the intuition he was going to replace Hon. Bunmi Tunji Ojo as our Rep member.

Only the All- knowing God knows the process and the shenanigans before the bye+election, one thing I can safely and confidently predict is that Ifeoluwa Ehindero would stand for the election as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress and would be return elected at the bye- election.

I may not know the process, but this would be the outcome. Mark my words and take it to the bank for it will unfailingly come to pass.

May we have a peaceful bye-election exercise in Akoko North Federal Constituency and Nigeria as a whole, come February, 2024.

The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council has explained the absence of Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, from rallies and town hall meetings of its presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Bello was appointed as the National Youth Coordinator of the PCC by Tinubu on September 18 but has not been seen at any of the party’s campaign

The appointment, which was officially conveyed in a letter that carried the signature of the APC candidate, stated that the governor was chosen because of his impressive political achievements and exemplary leadership.

Giving reasons for his absence, the APC said, “We understand that he was appointed as national youth coordinator to help galvanise support for Tinubu in Kogi and other states in the North-Central region. But what we have been seeing from him so far is unimpressive.

“He only goes about calling himself ‘White Lion’ but not participating in all the rallies. Even that young Seyi Tinubu has done more than him in terms of youth mobilisation in the last two months. He has not justified his inclusion in the PCC at all,” an APC member told our reporter.

When asked for reaction, chief spokesman for the APC PCC, Festus Keyamo, dismissed the report, saying that it was obvious many people did not understand the effort Bello had put into the campaign.

“I spoke with Yahaya Bello yesterday and I can say he is one of the best strategic planners we have. With what he has set now, by the time he explodes, Nigerians will know.

“You know he heads a very strategic department and he is more than ready for the campaign 100 per cent.”

The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) says permanent voter cards (PVCs) are being sold for N1000 in the North.

The forum raised the alarm on Friday, accusing politicians from the region of taking advantage of vulnerable persons in the North, especially women.

The NEF’s Director of Publicity and Advocacy, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, said while disclosing the Forum’s recent findings on the alleged proliferation of vote suppression in the region.

“It appears that the targeting is real. They target the most vulnerable, which is women. In the North, more women vote than men. More women have an interest in election activities, and on voting days, a lot more women come out to vote. But the economy makes them more vulnerable.

“So it’s a targeted, conscious and deliberate effort to reduce each other’s support. People look at areas where they are strong and where the opposition is strong. And what they do is go into places where particularly the opposition is strong and they buy off PVCs.

“I have to say, it’s not just taking place in the North but a huge part of it is captialising on the poverty, particularly of women, and people are being separated from their voter cards,” he said.

Baba-Ahmed however stated that the investigation by the Forum did not indict anyone in particular.

“We were not able to establish a specific partisan bent on this. There are huge numbers of people involved in this,” he said.

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba says politicians and other prominent personalities should be blamed for the recent attacks on the officers and offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)in different parts of the country.

The IG, who was represented by the Deputy Inspector-General, Department of Operations, Dandaura Mustapha, stated this on Friday when he appeared before the House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating attacks on INEC assets across the country.

Baba noted that the Nigeria Police Force, being the lead agency in internal security and elections generally, was always at the receiving end, stating, “Whatever happens, it is the duty of the police to protect here and there.

“The campaigns commenced and what we realised initially was inter and intra-party disputes. We realised that members of political parties were destroying billboards, posters and campaign offices in some parts of the states. We quickly alerted the commissioners of police in charge of the commands and gave them a clear directive that it is the right of every political party to go to all the nooks and crannies of society and campaign. It is a constitutional right, so on no account does a state governor or any state actor should prevent political parties from moving about to do their campaigns.

“We now come to the immediate attacks on INEC facilities. Of recent, the ones that took place in Osun and Ogun, then last week in Ebonyi, Imo and Enugu; it is a well known fact that in the South-East geopolitical zone, we have issues of secessionists – the IPOB and ESN. These groups are bent on stopping elections from taking place in the South-East. They have been attacking our personnel; they have been retrieving arms from members of the security agencies, not only the police but the military and other paramilitary organisations that are there. They have been doing it, especially now that the embargo on campaigns has been lifted.

“The election is approaching very fast and they are putting much pressure to see that this election does not hold in the South-East geopolitical zone.

“In the South-West, we equally have the pro-Yoruba secessionists that are equally bent on seceding and not allowing election to take place in their areas, hence the attack on INEC in Osun and Ogun of recent. Those ones are also sponsored by politicians and other stakeholders.”

According to the police boss, there is also the issue of failed and desperate politicians who are bent on stopping INEC from conducting the elections.

“The failed politicians are those who could not come back through any political party, and as far as they are concerned, let everything spoil, let everything scatter. They are using that opportunity to sponsor illiterate followers of the parties and hoodlums to make sure that this general election does not hold and should not be successful,” Baba added.

The Presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Prince Adewole Adebayo says he wants to do big things if elected into office in 2023.

Speaking in a television interview earlier this week, Prince Adebayo said he does not want to be a president that will be feeding children in their schools.

The renowned lawyer said he is more interested in creating a system that will help the Local Government, state and federal to function effectively.

In his words, “As president, I don’t want to be the president that will say I am feeding children in their schools. What is the local government doing?

“We should create a system by executive order whereby a Local Government can collaborate with the central government and do basic things as immunization. We are federalizing and centralizing everything which bees to be done by the local community.”

He added that “Every organ of government that have legislative power should have executive powers too. If a LG can make an ordinance — say don’t pack here, don’t dump refuse here, don’t do this, don’t do that, they need to have a minimum power that allows them enforce those laws. “

According to the presidential hopeful, most of our criminal offenses are state offenses like murder, arson, manslaughter — they are all within the state laws and should be handled by the state through legislative processes.

Prince Adebayo added that the things that confronts Nigerians are basic and can be taken care of at the level of the community.

This he said, informed SDP’s campaign strategy of meeting the people in their community, instead of nomenclature of crowd renting.

” We are the doing door-to-door campaign and we do engagements. What we are not going to do is to run a very expensive campaign.” He added.

The Director-General of the Labour party Presidential Campaign Council, Doyin Okupe has been expelled from the Ogun State chapter of the party over alleged misappropriation of funds.

Okupe was expelled alongside10 others over alleged non-financial membership status, high-handedness and financial recklessness.

This was announced by the State Chairman of the party, Michael Ashade in Abeokuta on Thursday.

He explained that the offences allegedly committed breached the LP’s constitution.

Ashade alongside the National Publicity Secretary of LP, Abayomi, and the State Secretary, Feyisola Michael, said Okupe ceased to be the party member after his failure to meet the mandatory constitutional requirements to fulfill membership status.

He disclosed that Okupe has not paid his party membership dues for 6 months since joining the party.

Ashade said Okupe and 10 others have run afoul of the article 9(3) sub(iii) and Article 9(3)xi the LP constitution and thereby ceased to be party members.

He also advised the Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi to desist communications and interactions with Okupe.

“Therefore in line with article 19(3) of the Labour Party constitutional provision, we declare that Dr. Doyin Okupe, having failed in the payment of his membership dues for the last six months of joining the Party, has forfeited his membership of the Party and no longer fit and competent to continue to act as the DG of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).

“We hereby notify our National Chairman Bar Julius ABURE and Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, that it’s expedient to obey the constitution of Labour party by immediately appointing another DG for the PCC and that should come from the North to reflect Federal Characters and political Balance.

“We challenge Dr. Doyin Okupe to provide evidence of any payment in respect of membership dues prior to today into any bank account of the Party.”

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, says he will utilise the potential of internet fraudsters, otherwise known as Yahoo Boys.

The Deputy President of the Senate made the promise on Wednesday during the party’s ward-to-ward governorship campaign in the Aniocha North Local Government Area (LGA) of Delta State’s Onicha-Ugbo, Issele-Uku, and Onicha-Olona communities.

“Yahoo Boys’ are young Nigerian men who specialise in various types of cybercrime, especially posing as women online to defraud unsuspecting foreigners. Some of them are hackers.

“We will harness the potential and ingenuity of the Yahoo Boys by engaging them in their best positive ways by asking them to develop apps, and the state government will be a shareholder.

“By so doing, we are creating employment for our children,” Omo-Agege said.

Cybercrime is punishable by up to five years imprisonment.
