In preparation for the future of the rural part of Ondo West Local government area of Ondo state, that have actually began from now, and in the spirit of Christmas which is given, I hon. Jerry Akintomide and with the support of my Friends both in Nigeria and Diaspora, are launching a six million (#6,00,000) Naira only Scholarship scheme for indigent students of ondo west constituency 2 in public higher institutions across the country to support their parents and students that are exceptional in their course of studies, hence this scholarship, also to encourage more youth of the area who find it difficult to proceed beyond secondary school level.
In doing this, we are trying to reduce both drop out rate as a result of lack of fund also to encourage more young ones to proceed to higher schools, as this scholarship will be given annually.
It is our sincere believe that this gesture will add both short and long time value to the development of the rural area, also known as Ondo west Constituency 2
The impact of this scholarship scheme, we believe in the nearest future, they also would increase the productivity of the rural labour.
They will be able to provide employment and higher income opportunities. They will have the opportunity to build capacity and knowledge in the rural populace, helping them to make informed decision about their environment.
This scholarship will push the youths into advancing in their academic pursuit thereby exposing the masses to information and helps prevent the misinterpretation of information.
This would also of course improve the education that can lead to many positive outcomes, such as an improved ability to understand policies, procedures, rights, duties, government and governance, legislation etc.
Education is considered a vital element in the development of a society, a system and a country.
I am convinced that a well-supported, easily accessible education system is an efficient means to make people politically and economically conscious and thereby, make them actively participate in politics, either to vote or to be voted for their economic prosperity and cultural development.
As an educator, I insist that education should be given first and foremost in the service of democracy which demands not only to be protected against decisions but to be a part of decisions that influence society in a positive way.
The forms are free and accessible for all. I advice the youth of this area to grab this opportunity.
I use this opportunity to commend the National Assembly for passing the Education Bank Bill for students Loans, i however urge President Buhari to accent the Bill as a new year gift to Nigerian Students.
