In a bid to actualize the execution of proposed projects of winners of the maiden Service Innovation Challenge organized for public servants in Ondo State, the state government has integrated the projects into the work plans of relevant state ministries.

Speaking at a meeting held with the Permanent Secretaries of the concerned ministries and innovators, the Ondo State Head of Service, Pastor Kayode Ogundele said the essence was to make existing structures of the government drive the ideas of the innovators into fruition for the benefit of the populace.

According to him, the ‘Agricultural Land Information System’ proposed by Dr Richard Alonge would be domiciled in the state Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Ministry of Lands and Housing while the ‘Generation of Clean Cooking Gas (Biogas) from Household Waste’ proposed by Mr Olubunmi Olaseni would be driven by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Energy and Mines. Also the ‘One Community, One Commodity’ project proposed by Mrs Oladipo Omobola was integrated into the Ministry of Agriculture.

The Head of Service, therefore, charged the Permanent Secretaries to set up necessary apparatus in their respective ministries to effectively mid-wife and execute the projects.

‘Beyond just the paper presentation, beyond the assessments of the judges and the awards, we are thinking now that the next level is to see how we can connect these, using the instrumentality of the public service to drive the attainment. We want to see how we can turn the theoretical presentation to practical manifestation.’ Ogundele said.

‘That is why we have brought together the award winners and relevant government agencies that would be used, using the vehicle of their structures to assist in achieving the success that can be measured in terms of contributions to the lives of the ordinary citizens.’ He added.

In their contributions, Engr. Ajibola Ogidan, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Energy and Mines and Mr Edward Ogunmola, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, pledged their resolve to effectively run the programmes in their ministry.

While lauding the initiative of the Service Innovation Challenge and the follow-up by the Office of the Head of Service, Dr Richard Adeola, who spoke on behalf of other innovators, said they would not rest on their oars until the proposal is actualized to the benefit of the state.
