Sequel to the rejection of old naira notes by some business owners in ondo state, the government has disclosed that such premises shall be shut indefinately.
The statement was made on saturday by the Senior Special Assistant to the governor of the state on strategy and special duties , Dr Doyin Odebowale on the state owned radio station during a Yoruba program saying that , anybody who rejects the old naira notes ,₦500 &₦1000 shall be prosecuted accordingly.
Akeredolu said the hardship is becoming unbecoming on the people’s wellbeing and said everything will be done to alleviate the sufferings.
He said further that , all commercial vehicles in the state should start taking the money and accept it as legal tender.
It would be recalled that the Supreme court had ruled that both the new and the old notes be allowed in circulation till 31st December, 2023.
However , it has now becoming an offence on anyone who refuses to accept the old notes in the state has said by the state government henceforth.
