The Kaiama division of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC Kwara state Command has arrested one Hussain Kamilu (35) of Ado village, Bani, Kiama local government area of Kwara State for an alleged sexual molestation of Mariam Suleiman (15) at Adogo village, in Kaiama Local government area of Kwara State
This was contained in a statement issued by spokesman of the command DSC Ayeni Olasunkanmi and made available to newsmen in Ilorin
According to the statement, “the suspect was alleged to have taken the victim on bike to an unknown place where he sexually molested her and threatened her never to tell anyone.
“However, Mariam eventually gained the needed courage to report the case at the NSCDC Kaima Division on 1st of April 2023. She reported that she’s been psychologically affected by the action of the suspect. Thereafter, the suspect was arrested on the 2nd of April and after investigation, he confessed to the offences.
“The suspect was later taken to court on 3rd of April for prosecution before Magistrate Abubakar Ahmed Boro at the Magistrate Court, Kaiama.
He was summarily tried as follows:
One year imprisonment for criminal trespass with option of fine, one year imprisonment for intimidation with option of fine, while that of forced sexual assault, he was given one and half year without option of fine at New Bissau Correctional service, Niger state”
“The state Commandant, Muhammed Tukur Ibrahim appeal to the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious movement around them to any security agency. He assured the state of working more to ensure that the rate of criminality in the state is properly checked.”
