The Social Democratic Party SDP candidate in the just concluded state assembly election ,Barr. Fadeshola Ojamomi a.k.a Ogo -Ilaje, has dragged the Hon. Abayomi Akinrutan , the alleged winner of the poll ,before election tribunal.

Fadeshola , an Abuja based lawyer and human rights activist, who came second in the said poll as being announced by INEC, said some irregularities and fundamental issues were later detected.

He further raised that the issue discovered will definitely give the All Progressives Candidate, Akinruntan a big fight at the tribunal.

However, parts of the petition filed indicated that ,Hon. Abayomi Akineuntan was not duly elected by the majority of lawful votes cast at the 2023 state Assembly poll.

Ojamomi is also challenging INEC and the APC candidate on the grounds that the said election was invalid by reason of corrupt practices or substantial non-compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022 (as amended). Also, that Abayomi was, at the time of election not qualified to contest the election. etc.

The facts contained in the petition are weighty and might likely affect not only the decision of the Tribunal but also pose an integrity test on the major stakeholders and leaders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ilaje Constituency 1.
