As a new, progressive President takes the reins of power in Nigeria today, I congratulate Nigerians on this landmark event marking another watershed in the country’s democratic history.
This is correctly a compelling culmination of a chain of recent political events, a rare retest of our tried strength of unity and faith in our brand of nationhood; yet we have repeatedly demonstrated capacity for self- governance, something we should applaud ourselves for.
I congratulate the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, who I believe possesses the requisite pedigree, capacity and credentials for leading the country in a time like this.
I recognise that this is a peculiar season for us as a nation, one with rife and dire expectations, I am well persuaded, nonetheless, that the new President is well aware of the exigent needs of Nigerians and would definitely make critical interventions that would usher in immediate reliefs, given his lustrous background as an experienced public administrator with political sgacity.
While we urge the new president to act his status as a father to all, irrespective of tribal, religious or political inclinations, I am convinced that we have elected rightly, and, with the right attitude, we shall reap deserving winnings with President Tinubu at the helm of Nigeria’s affairs.
