In promoting the social cultural heritage of Akure kingdom,the 2023 edition of the Ulefunta festival ,has been unveiled.
Speaking to Journalists at the Ulefunta house on Thursday in the ancient city of Akure, the chairman of the steering committee of this year’s edition of the festival, Olu Adekunle Ajanaku, said many activities have been lined up for the epoch making annual event.
Olu Adekunle Ajanaku who spoke on behalf of Deji Of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi Ogunlade, the paramount ruler of the Kingdom said that this year’s edition will wear additional dress over what it was last year.
He emphasized that provision has been made to assist the indigent students across the kingdom tagged : Education support Scheme.
Also a Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneur Programmes for the vulnerable and unemployed youths.
He said further that, Health Support Outreach during and after the festival which include donation of drugs & medical facilities among others has been introduced.
It was also said that three prominent indigenes of Akure will be honoured posthumously for their services to humanity and laudable contributions to Akure development. They are : Adebayo Omolafe (expensive) Engr Rotimi Fasakin( ex DG NIMASA) and late Prof Like Omotosho.
The committee therefore pleaded with the governor, Rotimi Akeredolu SAN to temporarily remove the concrete barrier at the Daji’s palace junction at Oba Adesida road for the Deji’s” traditional walk”to MKO Abiola democracypark on 14th October, 2023.
The Committee on behalf of Deji, requested the governor on permission to use designated routes within Akure metropolis for the maiden edition of, “Owa Oropo On Traditional Marathon Race on 23rd Sept, 2023. Among other demands.
The committee pledged that the full highlights of the program of event shall be made available anytime soon for public consumption and notice.
