The 2003 Alumni of Offa Grammar School in Offa Local Government area has commissioned the school’s first Whiteboard in 30 classrooms, 80 years after its establishment.

At the commissioning held on Tuesday in Offa, the President, Offa Grammar School Old Students Association (OGSOSA) 2003 set, Wg Cdr Jimoh Imran, said the project was their way of giving back to the school that made them.

”This White board has unique importance because this is the first time that the school will have a white board in this format since its establishment in 1943.

”It is therefore wonderful that the school’s first ever white board in this format would be constructed by OGSOSA 2003 set.

”From our perspective, our support to the school can only increase, that is why we decided to mark our 20 years anniversary with this beautiful project, as we expect levels to increase in future time.

”The 2003 set, having listened and review the needs of the school, decided to provide what we considered as most important, which is provision of whiteboard and marker for 30 classrooms.

”The project will improve the learning of students because, students love the idea of writing on a whiteboard, it is a great way to keep students organized and also an effective interacting teaching tool,” he said.

The president who was represented by the Project Coordinator, Mr Oyetunji Okunlola, said that more work needed to be done in the upliftment of the facilities in the school and the 2003 wont be found wanting.

”I highly commend the school management for all the hard work and efforts to change the trajectory of the school for good.

”Yet, more still needs to be done and I know you are up to the task, for school facilities needs to improve drastically to bring about good learning environment and increase the performance of student.

”Your other request especially that of “part time” teachers will surely be attended to.

”That’s why the OGSOSA both the national body and different set strongly supports the school in various areas.

”We are promising that 2003 set will not be a fair-weather partner: we were there when it mattered most. For a partner in times of need, is a great partner indeed,” he said.

OGS Senior School Principal, Mr Fatai Salami said the project would go a long way in placing their alma mata well for harnessing modern technology in education.

”You have committed through a lot of energy and resources to make this students – teachers – centred project a possibility.

”Feeling reluctant to play Oliver Twist, our school bus has been in detention for about a year which has negatively affected the students’ engagement in extra curricular activities outside the school.

”Your set might have connection with the right people to bail our bus from police custody and make it road worthy again,” Mr Salami said.
