Like the current governor of the state, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa said at St Andrews Anglican Church ,Owo during the burial service for Okuwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu on Friday that, “he will never forget the deceased so soon,” so goes to the people of the state, that AKETI will never be easily forgotten in the anal of things.
The man AKETI has written his name on board with indelible ink in the state, southwest and in the country at large through the formation of AMOTEKUN CORPS, to safe the entire region from the “colonization” of the Fulani herdsmen two years ago. What a fearless soldier !!
Enumerating his good deeds while in office will take us a long whole day, in the area education, Health Road construction and the rest but just to mention a few.
At the burial day, I almost lost my way at the city of Owo, his country home, where every road in the city are now dual carriage roads compare to what it used to be few years back. What a great man!
Having said these, many political gladiators will start re – strategising in the coming weeks ahead of the All Progressives Congress APC primaries tentatively slated for late March or mid April, 2024.
Many of these so -call gladiators wouldn’t have tried engaging party members or delegates for votes if AKETI had been alive. Many invisible groups and unwarranted adoptions have taken over the political space just to create undue recognition.
Reason (s) to this is not far fetched which would have told some of them to their faces never to waste their meager resources on what is not which those ones know even now that, they are just spoilers, political merchandise and tycoons.
However, my research so far indicated that, the death of an Icon, legal luminary OLUWAROTIMI ODUNAYO AKEREDOLU, really paved way for some of these “contestants ” to start disturbing the peace and thoughts of well meaning Nigerians over their seriousness or un- seriousness in the scheme of things.
The political game- play to Alagbaka is basically for a “MAN” which cannot be for two “MEN ” and the percentage of the serious -minded individuals is so low compare to the unlimited number of them in the space .
No doubt about the fact that Ondo state people are clamouring for a MAN who can unite the members of the party, someone who has the required know-how to bring back those who are still in opposition parties to bear.
Some of the party members, who shared their opinion with Germanereporters said, they need a candidate who will not abandon them or change the party structure for his selfish ambition after winning but sometime who has been there for them despite all odds and who is still with them in the face of current economic challenges in the country.
When asked by our reporter on who the person is, they all declined to mention but said soonest, his name will be unveiled.
Moreso, on the issue of endorsement that rented the air few weeks back between the immediate past commissioner for finance in the state, Mr Wale Akinterinwa and the governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa , some said only God can put light on that while others said, those saying they have been endorsed from Abuja should go and be ruling Abuja and leave ondo people alone for their choice.
Having said all these, March or April is around the corner, some of the aspirants are desperately ready to roll out dollars just to win the minds of the people just to be the flag bearer while EFCC is also fully set to get on the spender irrespective of where he is coming from.
But the point is that, everyone of them has their own money to dish out for the primaries. Some of them have started placing their hard earned property for sale in Lagos, Akure, Abuja and in Dubai worth billions of naira just to serve the people as claimed.
The death of Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu has polarized the system in allowing every “dick & harry ” to say they want to rule though no law stops anyone except otherwise stated but some of them know they cannot win their streets, units not to mention their wards.
Yoruba proverb says ” àgbè ni yóò f’oko Òle hàn” meaning boundary or size of your farm land will show how serious you are as a farmer
A biblical injunction says : the wheat will soon be separated from the Tares when the time comes
Money in naira and dollars is alleged to been exchanging hands secretly by some contestants while some are no where to be found nor available for their supporters but heavily claim to be the preferred personality for the number one seat.
In conclusion, many of the aspirants have been waiting for the ex governor to be finally laid to rest which has been done on Friday 23rd, February, 2024 , now that he has been buried, we await the political game play and who wears the “CAP”
