A political group, Mato Mandate Group (MMG), has dissociated its members from a campaign list released by the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers (LACO-FS).
The list was circulated by Tolu Babaleye, secretary of LACO-FS, on Monday.
A statement by Mato Mandate GROUP Media Team said its members whose names appeared on the campaign list were not contacted or consulted.
“MMG is not part of LACO-FS nor do they have the mandate of the group nor that of our Principal and other leaders to include their names without their consent,” the statement said.
It said the action of LACO-FS “smacks of infantile mischief or missteps of a bad footsoldier”, adding that it was not the best way to help a contestant.
“Our attention has been drawn to a purported campaign list of LACO-FS containing the name of our Principal, Hon Mathew Oyerinmade (MATO) and other leaders of MMG like Surv Niran Akinniyi, Hon Abidakun and others as being appointed to some positions in their group as being circulated by the secretary of the group, Barr Tolu Babaleye.
“We are proud members of Mato Mandate Group, MMG, ably led by Hon. Mathew Oye Oyerinmade and our members cuts across all the 18 LGAs of Ondo State.
“The MMG, a visionary group in the APC parading select credible politicians, is admired across the length and breadth of Ondo State, well known to the State Governor, Central working committee of our Great Party( APC) and other political stakeholders, and remains for us the most viable vehicle to work for any preferred gubernatorial aspirant of our choice which will be made public in due course.
“We therefore ask that the name of our Principal, Hon Mathew Oyerinmade (MATO) as well as names of other leaders of MMG should be removed immediately from the said list,” MMG said.
