Ahead of the November 16 gubernatorial election in Ondo state, the All Progressives Congress (APC) may have been hit with a serious political tsunami, as huge number of members of the party in several communities in the state have decamped to the opposition People’s Democratic Party.

The mass movement of the APC members, officially took place in Ondo South communities on Saturday, with leaders of the decamping groups declaring to ensure the PDP candidate , Agboola Ajayi wins the coming election.

Members of the APC involved in the mass movement include those in Aboto, Arogbo, Apoi communities among others, and the non indigene groups in Ese-Odo local governments area, with all the defectors received into the PDP by the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Ajayi.

The APC’ Secretary in Arogbo Ward 2, Ikuenogbon Isemo led the decamping members while
Ajisebutu olarenwaju led the defecting members in Aboto to the PDP .

Also at Ugbo ward 3 in Ilaje LG, Dr Richard Ebijimi led the APC defectors.
During the exercise, Ebijimi, being the leader of the defectors promised on behalf of the others, to deliver the ward to the PDP in the scheduled election.

The decamping which cuts across Ese Odo and Ilaje local governments also saw the movement of non indigenes members of the APC
in Apoi to the PDP. They included the Hausa, Calabar and Urobho communities.

The Hausa communities were led by Seriki of the Hausa communities ,Muritala Isah and Muhammed Aliaru.

Simon Okon and George Apos led the Calabar group as Umukoro Jacob and Dogho Deborah led the Urohobo group in the cross carpeting exercise to the PDP in Ese Odo LG

Receiving them to the PDP fold, the PDP candidate,Ajayi, applauded the defectors for seeing the light early enough, adding that they have taken the best decision to be one with the winning team.

He added that the Saturday decampees are just some of the many across the state waiting to officially join the opposition party.

Describing the defectors as the biblical John the Baptist , the forerunner of Jesus Christ, Ajayi said ” many in the APC have seen our victory ahead and it’s obvious that nothing will stop the victory”

Congratulating the defectors, Ajayi said they have taken a major step, by coming ahead of the rest on the way, to ensure that the rescue mission which the PDP have embarked upon in the state is clinically finalised via the coming election, with the PDP expected to record a resounding success.
