No fewer than 500 people have benefited from the cash palliatives provided by the lawmaker representing Akure North and Akure South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Prince Abiodun Derin Adesida.

The beneficiaries cut across both Akure North Local Government Area and Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo state.

The cash palliatives were given to the constituents on Monday after a meeting at the Alagbaka residence of the lawmaker.

Adesida said he called the meeting to present a report of his representation in the last one year and for the constituents to offer their opinions, suggestions and advice.

“You sent us to the National Assembly to represent our federal constituency and I felt it was important to call this meeting to report to you what we’ve been doing in the last one year,” he said.

Speaking on his achievements, Adesida said he had facilitated employment of no fewer than 10 youths into some federal establishments, promising to do more.

He said: “In the last one year, I have been able to help some of our people to secure employment into some federal establishments such as the Road Safety Corps.

“It is my plan to help more of our youths, a considerable number of them, to secure employment. I did it when I was a member of the House of Representatives between 2007 and 2011.

“I helped scores of our people to secure employment into the Nigeria Custom Service. Some of them have risen to high positions. One of them came here this morning to inform me about his elevation. So, I will make sure more of our youths get jobs. You only have to be patient with us.”

Adesida said he had also facilitated installation of solar street lights in some communities in the two local government areas.

Apart from facilitating other infrastructural developments, the lawmaker stated that he had sponsored motions and bills seeking a better life for the people and elevation of educational institutions in the federal constituency such as the College of Agriculture, Akure.

He reiterated his promise to provide robust, purposeful and productive representation for the people of the federal constituency.

Those who spoke at the meeting commended Adesida for his achievements, urging him to do more.

After assessing his representation in the last one year, they presented their requests and offered suggestions on how the lawmaker could help the federal constituency to move forward.

Those who attended the meeting included Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye; Commissioner for Urban and Regional Planning, Hon. Gbenga Olaniyi; and former Commissioner for Natural Resources, Hon. Idowu Otetubi, among others.
