Today, August 12th, 2024, marks the International Youth Day, a day set aside by the United Nations to recognize the potential, contributions, and challenges of young people around the world. As we celebrate this day in Ondo State, the Yoing Progressives Party(YPP) cannot but reflect on the state of our youth and the future we are building for them.
Unfortunately, the current administration in Ondo State has failed to prioritize the needs and aspirations of our young people. Despite their campaign promises, the incumbent governor has not done enough to address the high levels of youth unemployment, poverty, and inequality in our state.
The lack of investment in education, skills training, and entrepreneurship programs has left many young people in Ondo State without hope or opportunities for a better future. The governor’s inaction on these critical issues is a betrayal of the trust placed in him by the youth of Ondo State.
Furthermore, the rulling Party’s policies have exacerbated the brain drain in our state, as many young people are forced to seek opportunities elsewhere due to the lack of opportunities and enabling environment in Ondo State.
On this International Youth Day, we call on the governor to take immediate action to address these pressing issues. We demand:
- Increased investment in education and skills training programs to equip our youth with the skills needed to compete in the modern economy.
- Implementation of entrepreneurship programs and support for small businesses to create jobs and stimulate economic growth.
- A comprehensive plan to address youth unemployment and poverty in Ondo State.
- A comprehensive and workable plans for Technological advancement, Inovation and industrialization of the State.
We also call on the youth of Ondo State to rise up and demand more from their leaders. We must hold our leaders accountable for their actions and inactions. We must work together to build a brighter future for ourselves and for generations to come by suppprting and voting John Otitoloju Akinmurele/Ayodele Obe as the governor of Ondo State come Nov 16, 2024 on the platform of the Young Progressives Party(YPP).
