The people of ondo state have condemned the action of the state government over the upward review of tickets for the commercial motorcycle popularly known as okada from #150( one hundred and fifty naira) to #500( five hundred naira and that of the tricycle to the tune of #1000
However, some of the people who spoke with GERMANE REPORTERS (GR) said the negative effects of this will bounce on the common man most especially,that children will be resuming few days time.
According to a parent, Mr John Adegbehingbe,who said that ,the bad economy situation of the state is second to none , mostly that ,the Okada riders charge exorbitantly even when ticket fare hasn’t been reviewed upwardly.
Mrs Ajoke Adeola, a civil servant lamented that ,the government has inflicted another hardship on the masses by increasing the ticket levy on the only means of transportation for the poor.
She said that , the government should have if necessary,increased it to #300, and not #500 for the Okada riders.
One of the Okada riders who was bitter over the upward review said , they have no option too than to increase their charges far ahead than what it used to be.
Meanwhile, Comrade Tolu Ogunsuyi, said it is very wrong on the part of the government and the that of the Internal Revenue service ODIRS of the state to have compared the what they levy in Lagos ,Ogun with that of the state.
Ogunsuyi said further that, even the states like Ekiti and Osun have more developmental amenities than Ondo , saying,there is no justification on the money levied without considering the less privileged in the society
