THE newly elected Chairman of Akure South local government area of Ondo state , Dr. Gbenga Fasua, has started work as he began the grading of Oluwaseun Street,off Oke jebu, Akure which was in a deplorable condition that no one could drive through.
The street, was said to have harboured the home of the mother of Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, had for the past 30 years been abandoned and became impassable for vehicles.
FASUA, willingly brought grader to the street to do surface dressing to make it accessible and passable for vehicular movement as part of fulfilment of his electioneering promises and his love for the people of the Metropolis.
While speaking with newsmen on the road , he said ,the condition of the road was just nothing to write -home.about.
He said it was so bad that no one could drive through the road anymore for the past thirty years.
” This road has been in this sorry position for over thirty years without any hope but God says it’s time”
“I’ve promised Akure South local government and the good people that the best is what they will see which we will definitely give “
“This is a tip of an iceberg. I’ve told them in the area of education, infrastructure, economy, youth inclusiveness and others they should expect transformation”
“This is not new to us. I’ve been a Secretary of a local government for two and a half years. I understand the pain of the people, and, of course, the bane of the people of this area, particularly Akure South local government.
The Councillor of Ward 4 of the local government, Akinsulu Oluwasina appreciated the chairman of the local government for choosing his Ward to start off the fulfilment of electioneering promises.
He assured the people of the local council that the chairman would fulfill all his electioneering promises with the support of all the Councillors.
The Chairman of the Landlord Association of the street, Mr. Omotoso said seeing a grader working in the street looked like a dream on a road that has since been neglected and abandoned
it was a grand breakthrough for the residents.
Mr. Omotoso said most residents parked their vehicles in the adjourning streets because the street was inaccessible.
A leader in the community, Hon Oyeyinka Akosile expressed confidence in the chairman that more of such developmental projects will spring during his tenure.
He expressed his confidence in the autonomy of the local government, saying with the way the new chairman of Akure South Local Government started, there would be tremendous development at the grassroots.
