
The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi has said that ,private tracker had to be hired before the notorious kidnappers along the airport road ,in Akure could be apprehended.
The Police boss made this known at the headquarters of the command , Igbatoro road ,Akure during his speech to journalists over the command’s score- cards.
Parading the suspects, the Police boss said that the incessant activities of the kidnappers prompted him and his tactical team decided to put their nefarious behavior to a halt and beam their search lights on the kidnappers.
It would be recalled that, kidnapping activities were recorded simultaneously at Oke Oge area ,close to the airport, in Akure in the.last two.weeks where two farmers and two IT students of an higher institution in the city were kidnapped.
The Police boss therefore said that, the syndicates involved in the act have been arrested which investigation revealed that, the ring- leader, one
Subsequently, through intelligence led policing one of the suspects, Yusuf Suleiman ‘m’ aged 27years, was arrested.
In the same vein, One Ishaku Abdul ‘m’ 40years was arrested by the Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad (SAKS) based on tip off. The suspect who is an ex-convict and recently released from correctional centre was suspected by the neighbors to be complicit in the recent uprising of criminal activities in the area.
He was arrested at Aladura camp Oke-Oge, Osi, the area which recent kidnappings occured.
All these suspects have been on the police wanted list.
He later urged all well meaning Nigerians to assist the police on information and as well , getting the modern equipment so as to meet up with the challenges facing the force on security.
