In line with his vision to enhance infrastructure development, and make the state cynosure of all eyes, Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has approved the construction of a dual carriage way from Akure the state capital to Idanre town.

Speaking during a stakeholders meeting at the palace of Deji of Akure, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engineer Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye FNSE reiterated the governor’s passion and commitment in developing the state and bringing dividends of democracy to the citizen’s doorsteps through construction of new roads, rehabilitation and maintenance of the existing ones.

Engr. Olawoye, who highlighted various ancient and old roads which are being asphalted across the state, especially Akure metropolis, stated that the 10km first phase dualisation which will commence from Cashhold junction in Oke aro to Store area in Idanre road, would soon be flagged off by the Governor and the second phase that would terminate in Idanre town would follow.

While assuring that affected building owners would be compensated, he implored the stakeholders to cooperate with government officials during enumeration, demolition and construction periods.

In his address, the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Akinluyi Omotola stated that the meeting was important as it was crucial to sensitize the people ahead of the dualization and suggest ways to solve any challenges and issues that may arise.

He therefore called on the stakeholders to be optimistic as the outcome of the project will be beneficial to all and sundry.

The Chairman of Akure South Local Government area, Dr. Gbenga Fasua who applauded the Aiyedatiwa led administration for massive infrastructural development especially in the state capital, congratulated the people of Akure for this great feat.

According to the Council boss, the pains of losing properties to the dualization is not comparable with the gains the development would bring to the state as Akure will be able to compete with other state capital in terms of infrastructural development.

The Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi , who was elated at the new development in his own domain during his lifetime, commended Governor Aiyedatiwa and promised the unalloyed loyalty, maximum support and total cooperation of the people. He used the occasion to pray for the governor and the government of Ondo State.

In their responses, the Aro of Okearo Akure, Chief Anthony Falowo and other stakeholders who spoke at the meeting, appreciated the government and pleaded for adequate compensation for properties which would be affected by the dualization.

Present at the meeting were the Ado of Adofure, Oba Akin Atere, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Lands and Housing, Mr Edward Ogunmola, Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr Gbenga Akingbasote, and Directors from Ministry of Infrastructure Lands and Housing and Physical Planning and Urban Development.
