A leader of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo state, Sir (Prince) Ademola Adegoroye has cautioned the State Government against being used by some mischievous persons to make it start an unnecessary wild fire in the state.
In a statement titled “ALL THINGS ARE LAWFUL BUT NOT ALL THINGS ARE EXPEDIENT” Adegoroye who is a former Minister said he had been inundated with calls by prominent individuals from within and outside the state since news broke about the plan of the state government as confirmed by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Kayode Ajulo that there would be a coroners inquest into the death of former Governor Oluwatomi Akeredolu based on a petition by a group.
While acknowledging that the state government has a responsibility to receive and act on any petition addressed to it, Adegoroye counselled the Attorney General to carefully investigate the intentions of the petitioners who may actually plan to make the Aiyedatiwa administration look like it is simply out to witch-hunt some person or persons.
Adegoroye who posited that It may be a trap to distract Governor Aiyedatiwa and further compound the misgivings about him in some quarters advised the governor not to walk into it so that he does not lose the opportunity to leave a great legacy by the time his current tenure ends in 2029.
He appealed to elders in the party and in the state to wade into the brewing crisis which has the potential to consume both the guilty and the innocent and urged all men.of goodwill to speak up so that crisis does not consume our State.
The former Minister who said it is unthinkable that government may endorse exhumation of former Governor Akeredolu’s body if the Commissioner’s comments are anything to go by, warned that endorsing such an action will be tantamount to preventing the late Governor from resting in peace perpetually as the controversies about him since his death day have done.
He appealed that everyone should let the dead rest, let the controversies around him end and let God be God in the matter.
