We welcome the recent announcement by His Excellency, the Governor of Ondo State, on the formation of the Governor’s Advisory Council. This initiative is a bold and strategic move towards ensuring that governance in our dear state benefits from the wisdom, experience, and diverse perspectives of seasoned leaders and technocrats.

In a period where the socio-economic challenges before Ondo State require both innovative thinking and grounded realities, an advisory council serves as a vital bridge between the government and the people. It provides a structured platform for consultations, constructive engagement, and policy guidance that can translate into tangible benefits for citizens.

While we commend this development, we encourage the Governor to ensure that:

  1. Broad Representation: The council reflects the voices of all senatorial districts, ethnic groups, gender perspectives, youth, and persons with disabilities, so that no segment of our state feels left out.
  2. Transparency and Accountability: The advisory process should be open and accountable, with periodic updates to the public on the recommendations and their impact.
  3. Citizen Engagement: The council should create channels to receive ideas and feedback directly from communities, ensuring that governance remains people-driven.

Ondo State’s future depends on inclusive dialogue, participatory decision-making, and a shared vision that cuts across political divides. The Governor’s Advisory Council can be a cornerstone of this vision if managed with integrity and inclusivity.

We stand ready, as stakeholders and citizens of Akure and Ondo State, to contribute meaningfully towards policies and programs that uplift our communities and empower our people.

Signed,
Ayodeji DF. Oluleye
