over 30 students across 8 schools in the state have been Awarded scholarships by the Bamiwo Scholarship Foundation.
The 4th edition of Bamiwo scholarship foundation which took place on Friday, 26th of September 2025 held at St. Monica’s girls grammar school hall in Ondo West LGA, Ondo State.
The School that benefited from the scheme includes St. Monica’s grammar school Ondo, St. louis girls secondary school Ondo, St. James catholic grammar school Ondo, Graceland Nursery/ Primary School Ondo , St. Andrews Anglican grammar school Ondo, CAC grammar school Ondo, Ondo boys high school Ondo, St. Stephens’ Anglican Secondary School Ondo.
In his opening speech online, the Chairman of Bamiwo Scholarship Foundation, Engineer. Oluwaseyi Fadamiro who described Education as the greatest gift said, ‘the foundation, schools, believe in you and we are not just building scholars but a generation of leaders who will uplift communities, honor culture and shape a brighter tomorrow’.
Highlights of the event included the speech of the commissioner of Education Professor Ajimefun Igbekele who was represented by Mrs. A.O Ebitanmi who said ‘the scholarship award ceremony is a testament of our commitment to nurturing academic talent and academic excellence in our society and to the awardees.
The Commissioner extends his warmth congratulation as he said, “your hard work and education has paid off and this award is a proof to your potential, I want to encourage you to continue striving for excellence and making use of the opportunity “.
The former school principal of CAC Grammar School Oka, Elder A. S Adegoke also described “the event as a celebration of possibility” because the number of beneficiary increases yearly and also appreciate the foundation and encourage other people to support the good gesture to help other students.
To the student, he told them it is a rare opportunity that they were chosen among thousands of students in the town and encouraged them to do better in their education and not to let down the foundation and the community at large.
However, The Secretary of Education Service Ondo West, Local Government Area, Barrister Bada said in his speech that the students should not see the scholarship award as an ordinary achievement a pointer to the next 15 to 20 years, as they will be one of the policy maker in Nigeria because ‘’when you are chosen among numerous people it means god has really ordain you to be a leader’’, he said. He encouraged them to stay focus and never get involved in sexual activities at the early stage of their life as it is a distraction. He urged them to focus and see themselves as winners as they are at the beginning stages of life. He further emphasized that when they have a good foundation they become solutions to the problems of the society at the later stages of their lives.
Meanwhile in an interview with the counselor of St. Monica’s Girls Grammar School, Mrs. Tognan Daze, she stated the importance of the scholarship award to her students, who were also part of the beneficiary this year and the pervious year. she mention the part when ‘as a counselor, you are speaking to students who have neither eaten, nor can afford textbooks or school fee. There is little or nothing you can do. But with bamiwo foundation, such is taken away and she appreciate and pray for reward for the board.
One of the beneficiaries, Maryjoe Arinze from St. Louis Girls Secondary School Ondo, described the education as the key to changing the world as the scholarship gestures helps students who face financial challenges to realize the potentials in them.
Another beneficiary, Elijah Oluwole from Ondo Boys High School Ondo, appreciated the Bamiwo Foundation on behalf of the other beneficiaries. He prayed the lord reward them and he stated that the money will be use not only for school fees but other school bill.
On the other hand, a parent of one of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Adejumoke Adetula appreciated the board of trustees of the Bamiwo Foundation for the support offered to the beneficiaries and she calls the scholarship a blessing and encouraged the students to make good use of the blessing and opportunity and not to let the foundation down.
The event, had in attendance the Commissioner of Education of the State, Professor Ajimefun Igbekele who was represented by the director zonal teaching service commission Ondo, Mrs. A.O Ebitanmi, the former school principal of CAC high school oka Elder A. S. Adegoke, the Secretary of Education Service Ondo West Barrister Bada, Bamiwo scholarship foundation board of trustees (online) Parents, member of staff among others.
Among the lineup of events was the presentation of the scholarship awards to the beneficiaries at the conclusion of the conference.
Bamiwo Foundation is a non- profit private organization dedicated to honoring the late deaconess Esther Oluwabamowo Fadmiro with a profound appreciation for education.
The Late deaconess instilled into her family, the value of pursuing knowledge and it’s transformative power.
