The Ondo state Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Nazim David Salah has urged traditional rulers in the state to monitor and know those residing in their domains in order to have a peaceful and crime free Society where we can all call ours.

The assertion was made on Monday when Germane Reporters paid an unscheduled visit to the Commander over the activities of the Command in recent time.

While responding , the state Commander, said a lot of achievements have been made with the collaborative efforts of sister agencies and that of the Journalists who by virtue of making the society a better place, collaborate and work hand -in -hand to make the society a crime free one.

” we wouldn’t have recorded the huge success without the assistance of other security agencies and journalists”

“we sincerely appreciate the efforts of everyone making the society a crime free” Said the Commander

Salah , said the period under review shows that tremendous achievements have been made in the area of arrest and prosecution of suspects at the Federal High Court.

The commander said that, 10,143.053 kilograms(kg)tones of Cannabis have been seized from suspects.

He said further that, 1.702 kg of “ICE” have been seized. Another one is psychotropic Substances , represents 2.193kg

Also he reiterated that , local Concoction called “Monkey Tail” which has negative influence on the brain were also seized in large quantities of well over 10,000 kg.

It was also stated that 74,786 hectares of farm land were destroyed using for Cannabis in the state which should have been used for cultivation of agricultural purposes in food production.

According to him , he said cannabis destroys the land and the nutrients as well.

” One thing our people dont know is that, the cultivation of drugs on our land destroys the land and the nutrients therein” Salah said

The command emphasized on arrest and seizure of properties.

Four vehicles were said to have been seized and forfeited with sum of two hundred and eighty two thousand ,three hundred naira only.

The forfeiture of 25 vehicles have been advertised before the Federal High Court for any objection before being finally handed over to the Federal government.

Moreso, 13 motorcycles, Sum of #2,363,670m was also forfeited to Federal government and 135 pending cases before the Federal High Court with 52 suspects have been convicted.

Salah therefore urged the state government to render assistance in the area of logistics to further enhance the work of the agency.
