The Past Registrar of the Akure Anglican Diocese, Prince Sir Ademola Adegoroye has expressed deep worry over a strongly worded summons to the Bishop of Akure Anglican Diocese, Archbishop Simeon Borokini and his wife by the Ondo State Anti corruption agency over some financial issues in the Diocese.
In a press release titled “Let’s pray for the quick restoration of our Bishop’s health” Prince Adegoroye described as disturbing the declaration of the Bishop and his wife wanted by the agency when it is in the public domain that Dr Borokini has been in hospital receiving medical care for a while.
Prince Adegoroye stressed that even though he has been one of those who have persistently demanded that the books of the Diocese must be checked hence he is not against the Agency’s invitation to the cleric, but such invitation should have a human face.
In the press release, Sir Adegoroye stated “Archbishop Borokini should be deemed innocent until otherwise proven, and so should be treated with dignity and the respect deserving of a man of his societal standing, and now that he is seriously indisposed, his inability to appear before the Agency should not be labelled as contempt”
He stressed that the Anglican communion and its officials including Archbishop Borokini have very great respect for the anti corruption agency ,and particularly its Chairman, Rtd Hon Justice W O Akintoroye who has proven himself to be a man of unimpeachable integrity over the years.
Adegoroye stated that in all of these, the Anglican Communion and its long cherished name, values and tradition must be protected and therefore enjoined the Akure Anglican Diocese to remain calm in the hope that the present misunderstanding will be amicably resolved soon.
