The Chairman of Academic Staff Union Of University Adekunle Ajasin University , Akungba Akoko, Prof. Boluwaji Oshodi has said that the state government , under the leadership of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is not sincere with the #1.1b it claimed has been paid.
Comrade Oshodi in an exclusive interview with Germane Reporters on friday over the much bloated one billion naira said to have been paid , the chairman claimed that the state government is owing the Lecturers May, June and July salaries and that the money, could only cater for May and June ,leaving July that has just ended out of it.
Moreso, he emphasized that, as at the time of filling this report, the money has not gotten to the First Bank account of the University, for over days that they have announced the disbursement.
However, he said further that, the new salary structure which states like Osun, Kwara and other states in the South West have implemented it ,only Ondo State, has failed to implement the payment.
He Concluded that, even if the much bloated #1b is paid on Monday 3rd August, 2026 or Tuesday 4th August, we will only work for the week and go on a large scale strike and protest the following week, starting from on 10th August, 2026.
According to him,
” we will protest against the in-human treatment the governor is giving us. We have not been paid our salaries since MAY till date, he lamented.
” We are going for National Executive Meeting next weekend, to ratify the strike, once we are back, fresh strike starts among the Universities in the state” the Chairman said.
Police, DSS and other security agencies have been informed of the protest, we will talk and fight for what belongs to us”
