The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has continued its post-primary reconciliation efforts aimed at strengthening party unity and consolidating support ahead of future elections.

As part of the ongoing engagement with critical stakeholders and aspirants who participated in the recently concluded Senatorial Primary Election, the party leadership paid a courtesy visit to one of the aspirants and respected party chieftain, Dr. Sylvester Olumuyiwa Adu, at his residence in the Alagbaka area of Akure.

The delegation was led by the Ondo State APC Chairman, Hon. Kolawole Babatunde, who conveyed the goodwill of the party leadership to their host. He explained that it is a long-standing tradition of the APC to reach out to key stakeholders after every primary election to promote reconciliation, foster unity, and reposition the party for victory in subsequent elections.

Addressing Dr. Adu, the State Chairman described him as one of the party’s most influential grassroots leaders and an invaluable stakeholder whose contributions to the growth of the APC in Ondo State remain widely acknowledged.

“We are here to seek your continued support, wise counsel, and leadership. Although we are aware that you are not among those aggrieved by the outcome of the primary election, we still considered it necessary to visit you because of your strategic role in our party.

“As we prepare to mobilise one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election, every committed party member must be fully involved. Your influence, political experience and grassroots network remain indispensable to the success of this mission,” Hon. Babatunde stated.

Responding, Dr. Sylvester Olumuyiwa Adu expressed appreciation to the party leadership for the visit and reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the APC and Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.

He declared that he harboured no grievances whatsoever over the outcome of the senatorial primary, stressing that his political relationship with Governor Aiyedatiwa is built on conviction, trust and divine direction.

According to him, despite attractive political offers made by other governorship aspirants during the last APC governorship primary- including promises of the deputy governorship position- he remained steadfast in supporting Governor Aiyedatiwa because he was convinced it was God’s direction for him.

“I received clear spiritual guidance to support Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and I followed that instruction. Today, I remain convinced that leadership and political positions come only through God’s approval. No individual can attain any office without divine permission. It is God who elevates men, not merely personal effort,” he stated.

Dr. Adu further noted that since joining the APC, he has consistently invested his personal resources in mobilising support for the party and empowering members across the state.

He maintained that the issues surrounding the recently concluded primary election should now be regarded as history, adding that the greater responsibility before party members is to strengthen unity and work towards future electoral victories.

“I will never publicly criticise the party or its processes. Where there are concerns, they should be communicated through the appropriate party leadership to improve future exercises. Our collective interest must always come before personal ambition,” he said.

While commending the party’s reconciliation initiative, Dr. Adu observed that valuable lessons should be drawn from the primary election. He advocated greater openness, transparency and internal communication in future party activities.

He also suggested that the national leadership of the APC could, where appropriate, clearly communicate its intentions regarding the return of serving national legislators seeking another term, noting that such clarity could reduce unnecessary internal contests and the reconciliation challenges that often follow.

Demonstrating his commitment to the reconciliation process, Dr. Adu volunteered to join the party-exco reconciliation team led by the State Chairman in reaching out to party members who may still feel dissatisfied with the outcome of the primary election.

He equally assured the party leadership that he would personally encourage all his supporters across Ondo State to remain loyal to the APC and align fully with the party’s collective decisions.

As part of his personal commitment to the party’s success, Dr. Adu announced that he would sponsor the branding of several campaign vehicles to support the APC’s mobilisation efforts ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

He reiterated that political offices are ultimately determined by God, stressing that no individual can occupy any position outside divine approval.

He concluded by assuring the leadership that all his contributions represent his personal commitment to the growth, stability and electoral success of the All Progressives Congress, while reaffirming to his supporters and the general public that he remains a proud and committed member of the APC.
