As part of efforts making life more meaningful to the masses ,most especially, the aged , market women and the youths in Akure South Local government area of the state, Hon. Dr Fasua Gbenga Timothy, the Executive Chairman of Akure South Local Government and ALGON Chairman of Ondo State, has disbursed well over N40 million in cash as empowerment funds to residents.
This initiative continues his ongoing support program targeting youths, women, and the elderly, aimed at mitigating the adverse effects of economic instability.
Hon. Fasua articulated that this initiative fulfils the campaign promise to enhance residents’ welfare and seeks to alleviate the impacts of economic turmoil. Approximately 800 beneficiaries are receiving funds, with over 300 confirming payments during the event. Beyond offering financial assistance, the program emphasises self-reliance, diminishes dependency, and fosters livelihood opportunities.

Hon. Fasua lauded the efforts of Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for his developmental initiatives across Akure and the entire state.
This initiative also complements the poverty alleviation endeavours of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s administration. Fasua acknowledged the contributions of the Deji of Akure Kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade; the Vice Chairman, Hon. Adebayo; the Secretary, Hon. Iteyemi Adegoroye; and other officials for their unwavering support in advancing Akure South and Ondo State. He exhorted beneficiaries to manage the funds wisely, affirming that mechanisms are in place to extend benefits to more residents. Fasua underscored the importance of ensuring aid reaches genuine recipients and called for community cooperation.
Additionally, Hon. Fasua officially inaugurated the Akure-South Renewed Hope Secretariat, aimed at supporting the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Furthermore, he reaffirmed his support for President Tinubu’s leadership and expressed his administration’s commitment to mobilising one million votes from Ondo State in favour of the President’s 2027 presidential bid.
Elder Akerele commended Chairman Fasua for his generosity and dedication to the people, while Prof. Olu Aderounmu praised Governor Aiyedatiwa’s developmental contributions within Akure.
The APC House of Assembly flag bearer, Hon. Mrs. Adeola Fynch, congratulated the beneficiaries and lauded the Chairman’s people-centred initiatives.
The Chairperson, Mrs. Bosede Fasua, also expressed appreciation for the administration’s unwavering commitment to residents’ welfare.
The event featured a sensitisation exercise by corp members in Akure South, a vibrant cultural troupe performance, and the presentation of support to beneficiaries.
