Systematically, things are taking shape in a wrong dimension for Akure Kingdom as three of his sons namely, Senator Niyi Adegbonmire,SAN Dr Taiwo Fasonranti and Dr Sylvester Adu (Cubana) are strongly at head on collision politically striving to get the ticket to the senate in the coming election.
However, the fight was initially between Senator Niyi Adegbonmire SAN ( Omo Ekun) and Hon Abiola Makinde from Ondo Kingdom.
It was alleged that the governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa developed interest in Makinde becoming the next Senator for Ondo Central where the duo hail.
As time flies, Adegbonmire SAN though an ally of the former governor , Rotimi Odunayo Akeredolu , was seeing to be too rooted and powerful at the Senate , another notable Akure man was pushed out against the candidature of Adegbonmire, that is Dr Sylvester Adu (Cubana)
Meanwhile , Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as we speak is not comfortable with Adegbonmire winning or becoming the next Senator for the Ondo Central Senatorial because of so many reasons part of which is political rival, Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, the Minister Of Interior who is also backing Adegbonmire re- election.
The governor , Aiyedatiwa sees Adegbonmire SAN as a force who never at one point or the other ,that never supported his ambition of becoming the next governor of the state.
Moreover, Dr Sylvester Adu Cubana has what it takes to contest against Adegbonmire financially ,he was raised and assured of the supports around Akure speaking communities and beyond by the power that be in the government of the state but the sudden resignation of the immediate past Secretary to the state government Dr Taiwo Fasonranti springs fear and surprises to the minds of all.
Dr Taiwo fasonranti , a Medical Doctor with government House ,Aso Rock ,Abuja, son of Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasonranti is another serious factor that cannot be pushed aside or away.
Everybody knows that, Baba Fasonranti has the ears of the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu which of course ,the President is ready even more than ready to do the bid of Baba Fasonranti anytime any day couple with the fact that , the immediate past SSG is his Physician.
The Governor ,Lucky Aiyedatiwa has initially pledged his total support for Dr Makinde ,being his Campaign Director General and also brought Dr Sylvester Adu (Cubana) another Akure Man on board to weaken the strength of Adegbonmire in Akure.
Now that another Akure man, Dr Fasonranti is out to fight for the seat , what becomes the fate of the kingdom compare to an Ondo Man ,Dr Makinde who is an “ọmọlùùlù” among them.
Akure may get it wrong this time around if care is not taking because the consensus or the votes will be greatly be divided among supporters and at the end, the two Ondo local government may have their ways.
Senator Niyi Adegbonmire SAN relies solely on the masses, his father’s name and support from the power that be, in the Senate beeing a serving Senator and the only Senior Advocate Of Nigeria SAN in the red chamber
Hon Abiola Makinde relies on his people in the two local governments of Ondo and the support of Mr Governor
Dr Sylvester Adu Cubana relies on his supporters within Akure Speaking communities and that of the governor.
Dr Taiwo Fasonranti relies on the good name of his father , his supporters and that of the President with little support from the governor to achieve his aim.
The political battle line is drawn among the gladiators from both within the state and the national
