AKURE ANGLICAN DIOCESE SAGA– Bulletin No 2.
The social media space has been agog since last night of the so called resolution of the meeting of the Diocesan Standing Committee of the Diocese of Akure where the Archbishop and Bishop of Akure, Most Revd S O Borokini was said to have been cleared by a panel set up by the Standing Committee.
What makes the difference between Christians and unbelievers is our ability to seek the truth, say the truth and stand by the truth !
We intend to give the Bishop himself the benefit of the doubt that he was not part of this lie and twisting of facts in order to show his desperation as to get cleared of those allegations by all means .
Is it possible that a Peace and Reconciliation Committee set up during the meeting and announced at the tail end of the meeting under the Chairmanship of Eyitayo Jegede would quickly meet, investigate those allegations within minutes and clear the Bishop of those allegations within minutes?
No be JUJU be that?
For the benefit of all concerned and the general public, please find below a true representation of what transpired at the meeting
- The meeting held at the Diocesan Headquarters on Saturday, 5th April, 2026.
- The Chancellor of the Diocese after the opening prayer gave the floor to the Bishop to make a speech and answer to the allegations leveled against him and his wife in the petition written and signed by prominent leaders of the Diocese .
- The Bishop admitted that land was not sold but rather leased to certain people . When he was asked questions on who leased the land, how much was paid for the alleged lease and where the lease agreement was, he could not give satisfactory explanations.
- The Diocesan Standing Committee was alarmed and members expressed shame and disgust at the Bishop’s attitude of abandoning forner Bishop Ipinmoye’s retirement home at Ado.Ekiti but chose to spend such mind boggling sum of Diocesan funds on his own retirement home and immediately ordered that between now and July 2026, Bishop Ipinmoye’s home at Ado Ekiti must be completed.
- Members insisted that all the allegations leveled against Bishop Borokini must be answered by him meticulously, one by one, as that is the only way he could continue to lead the Diocese.
- Members cautioned Bishop Borokini to stop throwing unsubstantiated allegations against prominent members of the Diocese and using divide and rule to tear members apart as this would only cause more division in the Church.
- Members confirmed their visit to St Matthias school compound where they found new buildings springing up, which confirmed that indeed, deals had taken place on land between the Diocese, the wife of the Diocesan and certain people who obviously paid for land .
- The meeting confirmed that indeed, the Law officers of the Diocese had gotten wind of the illegal sale of Land and had investigated it, and attempted to sweep it all under the carpet when the Bishop and his children met with them and pleaded with them passionately to keep mum and not disgrace the Bishop and his family.
- The meeting of the Standing Committee has changed NOTHING as the Eyitayo Jegede committee is tagged Peace and Reconciliation and not an Investigative Panel and any investigation can only be carried out by people who are independent and have not taken sides in this matter.
- We urge all members of the Diocese of Akure to be aware that Bishop Borokini was not cleared by any body or panel, and the only member of the body who stood up to raise a suggestion that a rejoinder be issued to clear the Bishop , a clergy who is Igbo, and Venerable, was shouted down and booed by all, and so we ensure that we stand by the truth on this matter so that it can be said of us that in truth and in deed, we worship Jesus.
