A University Don, an associate professor, Dr Festus Olowogboyega Oyebade has called on Federal government of Nigeria to give a total restructuring to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board,JAMB on how it uses sledge hammer on the potential undergraduates.
Oyebade, a University lecturer made this assertion known on Monday during a press conference marking the 60th anniversary of Adeyemi University of Education, formerly known as and addressed as ,Adeyemi College of Education,Ondo.
The University teacher emphasized that ,the quota given to higher institutions in the country on admission by JAMB affects the chances of many of our young and brilliant wards out there seeking admission.
He said further that, the board needs to be scrutinized and restructured so as to allow more opportunities for our admission seekers in order not to see the agency as a barrier to the young intending undergraduates who could have excelled in different fields of their choices but which quota and marking -down grades have discouraged many of them.
Also at the event, the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University ,Dr Samuel Akintunde appreciated the number one citizen of the country, President Bola Tinubu and other well meaning Nigerians who must have contributed to the success of the take off of the institution to the University status.
The Ag. Vice Chancellor therefore, urged Nigerians to put -in their best to the development of Education in Nigeria.
He concluded that the school authority is making frantic efforts in making a proposal to the National University Commission NUC for approval over running of post graduate studies.
The program for the anniversary is expected to end on the 26th of May,2024.
